Webdesk, TNI Kokrajhar, 21st August, 2015: The flood situation in Kokrajhar district along with other parts of Assam has turned severe after ceaseless rains since August 16. According to official records, over 37 villages have come under the surging waters rendering over 1000 people are affected in Kokrajhar, Dotma and Gossaigaon areas. The flood reports says that many areas in Patgaon, Bodiyaguri, Saragui have come under the flood wave after an alarming rise in the water level of the river Saralbhanga.
The floodwater also washed away a wooden bridge over the Longa River in between Putimari and Dotma. Train services were also affected today as several trains were delayed because of floods in Lower Assam. The situation has further worsened in the district after incessant rains in the upper catchment areas in Bhutan and Assam till the last reports.
